How do you open the hood of a 1993 chevy S10 with a broken hood latch cable?

The hood latch cable broke under the hood of my 1993 chevy S10. I tried to grab the cable through the grill and pull it but it is broken at the latch. I tried to wedge screwdrivers in where I can see the latch through the grill but no luck. Does anybody have any suggestions. Luckily I just topped off the oil and have a new battery.

You will have to lay down and reach up behind the bumper, to get to the latch. You should be able to grab the latch , where the cable attaches, and pull the lever by hand.
