   They sell a primer available in Home Depot or Lowe’s which is made for glass that you paint on first.

   Don’t use enamel, use polyuerethane (as in POR 15 products) Sorry no link, just do any search and you’ll get a blue-million sites in addition to the “official POR 15″ site. They are expensive but well worth it.

   You could always use a blasting machine to first etch the areas you want to paint or use a chemical type etching compound. This gives the glass a rougher finish for the paint to adhere to. The blast method is very effective in giving the paint an adhesion surface, but will require cleaning before application of the paint.You probably want to check your state/local laws about vision requirements first to see if there are laws against covering the rear glass.
