under Autos
clone9K asked:

Bonneville Salt Flats, August 1966 Van Prothero is clocked at 168.891 MPH… 40 years later his nephew Mark with help from his dad, Mert Prothero (and under the watchful eye of his his uncle,) are painstakingly restoring Van’s original ’57 Bel Air to it’s original glory…

  1. Saltrat Said,

The beautiful sound of a Prothero engine brings back such wonderful memories!!! As I listen over and over though, there’s been something missing? Today I finally recognized what it is. The whine of the electric waterpumps at shutdown is gone. Is the block still painted white?

  2. Saltrat Said,

Hey! When do we get to see a video of the car with the left front wheel off the ground? Though it will take a little crawling around I like to see the all new stainless steel exhaust system too!

  3. DumBrunet101 Said,

  9. Saltrat Said,

Van’s always loved to go fast. But at Bonneville stopping is no big deal. That why I had to laugh when I saw the stock, manual, 1 piston brake booster on the firewall! Start saving your money, 57 Chevy front end parts ain’t cheap!
