my 1957 chevy bel air 350/420 hp engine bench test

  1. tommynights Said,

0% chrome, regardless of what they said in video, all powdercoat/endurashine and aluminum - I didn’t want any rust or warping of cheap plated parts.

  2. r0ckabillyred Said,

chrome isnt good for your engine it dosent disipate heat properly and can make it hard to start even in warm weather id go with billet it can be polished to to look better than chrome

  3. r0ckabillyred Said,

i actually did really good at the scrapyard got a running 305 for 50.00 but ive been doing a lot of research and with the right part ill be making around 372+ hp an 365+lbs,and surprisingly using the stock crank

  5. tommynights Said,

I’m guessing you weren’t driving in a funeral procession; sorry, couldn’t resist. Sorry, the guys who did the work on my block go through about a dozen a week with none to spare. Try the salvage yards, but get a guarantee you can return it if cracks show up when the machine shop gets it. Just scrapped my old 283 - $12.00 was the grand total for the old worn out (not rebuidable) block. A good used one should run you 250-350. Good luck.

Throw gobs and gobs of money at it, ’til the wife says ENOUGH!

  7. r0ckabillyred Said,

  13. tommynights Said,

Stay tuned, I pick up my 1932 Ford next month! I’ll document the build and maybe look for some input on the build up of the new ride.

  14. tommynights Said,

Two schools of thought, you can’t compare one build to the next unless you know flow rates, cams, rocker ratios, etc. Also, I do have these tuned down a little; however, that being said, I’ve driven this car a ton over the last year and a half, and it hauls plenty good and gets tons of looks at the engine compartment. Old school is what I was looking for, otherwise I would have gone with three twos and really saved a lot on gas when I’m not “on it.” My motto, is do what you want, just have fun

  15. 86k20 Said,

hey im jw wut do u think of the dual quad setup, cuz ive read that a single quad carb is actually better then 2. and i also read a story on dyno testing 2 engines that were built the exact same but one had the edelbrock 500 cfm dual quad setup and the other had a performer 750 edelbrock carb and the single carb setup had higher torque and horse power

  16. tommynights Said,

Two 500 cfm Thunder series AVS Edelbrocks.

  17. AUSY18 Said,
